Local Star Athlete Signs with MBi Sports Agency

GREENSBORO, NC – CJ Beatty has signed an agreement with MBi Sports Management Agency of Greensboro, NC. Mr. Beatty was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 26th round (789th overall) of the Major League Baseball 2009 amateur entry draft. He was a two-time Athlete of the Year at NC A&T University (Greensboro, NC) and finished his college career as a .339 hitter with 31 home runs and 135 RBIs in three seasons. He also left Glenn High School (Kernersville, North Carolina) tied for the career home run lead. According to his Agent Mike Baker, "CJ is a powerfully built switch hitter who can play both outfield and infield positions. We are so excited to have such a prominent player from this area, give us an opportunity to work together in advancing his career. Anyone that knows anything about CJ knows that he does not make rash decisions and he only chooses the best. He is another example of a first class individual that MBi has been able to secure as a client".

Practice with the Pros will be held on Oct. 10, 2009 from 1-4 pm at the Greensboro Batting Center, located at 3917 High Point Rd. in Greensboro.

Scheduled local Professional Baseball Players include: Outfielder, Jeremy Synan of the Florida Marlins from Greensboro, NE Guilford High School and NC State. Pitcher, Tim Smith of the New York Mets from Walnut Cove, South Stokes High School and Catawba College, and Outfielder CJ Beatty of the St. Louis Cardinals from Winston Salem, Glenn High School and NC A&T. Practice with the Pros will give kids ages 7 and up the opportunity to come out for a day of fun and personal instruction from these and other up and coming area baseball stars.

Legacy League Event


On September 12th, Mike Baker took the opportunity to attend the celebration of the launch of The Legacy League
(www.legacyleague.com), at Perkerson Park, in Atlanta, Ga. The Legacy League is lead by CJ Stewart and his wife Kelli. Cj also formed the non profit L.E.A.D. organization
( www.lead2legacy.org ). "L.E.A.D. is a non profit organization located in Atlanta, Ga. L.E.A.D. is committed to having a significant impact on the number of inner city teens ages 14-18 playing competitive baseball in high school and to prepare them to compete for college baseball scholarships. L.E.A.D. embraces the legacy of leadership demonstrated by African American legends in baseball to inspire a new generation of players and coaches to develop and become engaged citizens in their communities and world."

MBi Player is Honored

Royals name Minor League pitchers and players of the year

All will take part in futures night on September 25

KANSAS CITY, MO (September 10, 2009) - The Kansas City Royals have named their Minor League Pitchers and Players of the Year for their respective affiliates. The 16 players are expected to be at Kauffman Stadium for Futures Night on Friday, September 25, where they will take part in a Q&A and autograph session at Gate A from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. as well as be honored in an on-field presentation prior to the Royals game against the Twins.

Outfielder Luis Del Rosario is the Burlington Player of the Year. The 22-year old from San Cristobal in the Dominican Republic batted .268 with three home runs, 17 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 57 games with Burlington. Del Rosario finished the year with the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Keedy goes 4 for 4 in victory

Former Northwest League All-Star Ryan Keedy went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs on Thursday as Greensboro beat Hickory, 7-3. The 24-year-old first baseman is hitting .425 with three homers and 12 RBIs in his last 10 games.(from www.mlb.com)
